Foundations of Technical Communication: Proposal Topic

Foundations of Technical Communication: Proposal Topic

Proposal Topic
> Spend some time discussing your proposal topic. Describe the current situation/problem (S1) and your proposed situation or plan (S2).

> In addition, discuss your readers. Who are your decision-makers? Does your proposal have any secondary readers? If so, who?

> While working on this assignment, you will be required to submit a progress report.
Note: your progress report is a participation grade, not a major grade.

> The progress report should:
 - Be between 500-800 words
 - Follow the conventions for the memo genre
 - Be appropriately written and designed for the rhetorical context
 - Address completed activities, ongoing activities, and future activities.
 - In addition to these sections, you may include a section for questions or concerns

> For this assignment, you will write a formal proposal. Proposals can take various forms, but their common denominator is that they persuade an audience to consider or undergo a proposed action.

> You may write a proposal to the WBU administration or to politicians or public figures (local, state, or federal) about an issue or situation you want to see changed.

> In addition, you may choose to write a proposal for grant money for a local non-profit organization. In either case, your proposal should be addressed to a real audience about a real situation or problem you want to see resolved.

> The formal proposal should:
- Be between 2500-3000 words
- Include your current situation, objectives, methods, qualifications, budget, and benefits
- Make clear use of rhetorical appeals and decisions

- Be appropriately written and designed for the rhetorical situation
